HUNDREDS of children from across Droitwich visited Westacre Middle School to take part in a range of Virtual Reality expeditions.

As part of its role as an ICT Centre of Excellence, Westacre regularly invites local first schools to use its ICT provision.

This time, 300 pupils from years 2 and 3 from Wychbold, Chawson, Hindlip, Tibberton, Westlands, Ombersley and St Joseph's schools spent time using Virtual Reality headsets.

The different groups of pupils visited a range of places around the world based on what they are learning in their own classrooms.

Trips ranged from Coral Reef and Ocean Safari, Egypt and Madagascar, to voyages through the human body and Roald Dahl's bedroom and classroom.

Children and staff from the schools were taken on the voyages of wonder by two Westacre teachers.

Paul Barber, Westacre's assistant headteacher, said: "As usual, it was a pleasure to welcome so many enthusiastic young people from across the town to Westacre for the day.

"Seeing so many children excited by what they were seeing and learning is what these days are all about.

"We look forward to hearing how the children use today's learning back in their own schools and hope to welcome them back to Westacre for other sessions like this during the upcoming months."
