MEMBERS of a community action group have presented a piece of life-saving equipment to a parish council.

The Kempsey Flood Action Group (FLAG) jointly funded a new defibrillator – which will be installed in the village community centre – with Kempsey Parish Council.

Brain Clarke, of the action group, explained the defibrillator was partly-funded with money left-over after Kempsey FLAG's fundraising campaign to get flood defences built in the village.

At the presentation, held at the community centre in Main Road, Mr Clarke thanked parish and district councillors for their help.

He said: "Kempsey FLAG was very grateful for their support in securing a successful bid with the Environment Agency.

"It was only right that any money remaining from that raised by the village to support the bid should now be used for the benefit of the whole village."

He continued to say Joy Oram and her daughter Katherine, were 'prime movers' in founding the action group and "deserve the special thanks of all involved in the initiative."
