ADDITIONAL funding has been promised to help secure the long-term future of the Droitwich Lido tennis courts.
£10,000 of funding will be given by Wychavon District Council, although more funding is still required.
Lynn Stevens, senior parks officer at Wychavon said: "The lido tennis courts are free and accessible to everyone and we want to keep them this way.
"We’re very pleased to be able to top up the funding towards the tennis courts which will brings the refurbishment one step closer to being a reality.
"The Let’s Play Tennis campaign has made great strides in their work, but we wanted to give them an extra helping hand on the way to achieving their funding goal of £40,000 with us making up £30,000 of the total now."
The announcement follows the campaigners latest fundraising initiative entitled ‘Leave a Lido Legacy’ where people are asked to sponsor a small square of the court in return for a donation.

Campaign leader Elaine Ball started the campaign in June 2016 after finding the courts full of pot holes and cracks.
Elaine Ball, fundraiser for the project said: "We’re thrilled with this additional funding which gets us so much closer to our final goal.
"We still have a lot of money to raise though, so we are once again calling on the community as well as local businesses to get behind this and get involved with the Leave A Lido Legacy campaign and give what they can to this project."
