A SCHOOL cleaner stole money from a classroom.
Carlos De-Oliveira, aged 30, of Dent Close, Worcester was caught on CCTV stealing three times from Christopher Whitehead Language College, in Bromwich Road.
De-Oliveira stole money from an envelope in a classroom on three occasions between October 10 and October 13 last year, amounting to £98.
He was sacked from his job after the thefts, after working at the school for a year.
Jennifer McDowall, defending said: "He is deeply ashamed to be here.
"He was under financial strain and stole the money as an impulse, he had taken a holiday of just under a month and thought he would get some sort of holiday pay after, but he did not.
"I would encourage a conditional discharge sentence, he is 30 years of age and this is his first offence."
De-Oliveira has now taken a job at KFC near Birmingham and has told them about the thefts.
He was ordered to pay £98 in compensation to Christopher Whitehead Language College despite claiming the money was taken out of his final salary, as he had not brought his payslip with him.
He was given a 12 month conditional discharge, as well as £185 costs and a victim surcharge of £20.
Christopher Whitehead Language College declined to comment.
