The incident was alleged to have taken place at Gheluvelt Park shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday, but after a "full and thorough" investigation, officers found no offence had taken place.

Reports about the alleged attempt had spread across social media on Thursday night, with some parents saying they had heard the boy had a bag put over his head.

But a spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "West Mercia Police received a report of an attempted abduction of an 11-year-old child at Gheluvelt Park, Waterworks Road, Worcester just after 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday, March 16).

"Following a full and thorough police investigation it was determined that no offence had taken place.
