TEAMS of golfers are being sought to compete in a charity golf day in support of a Worcester-based river rescue service.

Independent Fundraisers of Worcester are hosting their annual charity golf day at Ombersley Golf Club on Thursday, June 8, with all proceeds going to West Mercia Search and Rescue, a group of volunteers that are the first point of contact by the emergency services for flood and land rescue.

The group has to raise its own funding to keep operational and to cover its extensive training costs.

The 18-hole competition is open to teams of four, three or two, with prizes awarded to the Winning team, best individual, nearest the pin, longest drive and longest putt. A yellow ball competition will also be included in the event.

The fee of £40 per head includes the cost of 18 holes and a two-course carvery meal prior to presentation of prizes. Members of Ombersley Golf Club receive a substantial discount. A raffle will also take place on the day with a wide range of prizes.
