KEEN cyclists are set to use pedal power this summer to raise money for St Richard's Hospice.

The Bikeathon event, organised by the hospice, is set to take place on Sunday, July 2, and is offering cyclists three different routes.

All routes start and finish at the hospice in Wildwood Drive in Worcester but the three routes are of different distances.

There is a family route of 16 miles, a more challenging 45 miles, or for the seasoned cyclist a 64 mile route to Snowshill in the Cotswolds.

Routes are signed and co-ordinated by Pulse Pursuits, with the longer two routes being timed.

Anyone taking part will also be entered into a free draw to win a Gtech electric assisted bike.

Money raised from the event will be donated to the charity, which provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and supporting their loved ones.

Alison Parkes, fundraiser at St Richard's, said: "Our Bikeathon event will appeal to a wide audience from families through to cyclists who like a real challenge. Those taking part will cycle through some of Worcestershire’s most picturesque villages, with regular refreshment stops along the way. We look forward to welcoming participants on what looks set to be a fun and rewarding day with the added bonus that any money raised will have a direct beneficial impact on our patients and their families.”
