AUDITIONS for a popular ITV talent show will be held at a music school in Worcester.

Singers were invited to sign-up to audition for The Voice UK at Elgar School of Music, in Deansway, this Thursday – but all the available slots were quickly filled by applicants.

Talent scouts will spend two hours auditioning hopeful contestants for the 2018 series, with each candidate given just five minutes to impress.

Janine Parsons, head of the school, said staff were asked a couple of weeks ago to host the auditions.

And within a day of announcing it on the school's Facebook page, the post was shared 13,000 times.

She said: "I was quite blown away by it to be honest. It was quite incredible. I'm very excited.

"It is going to be just a wonderful experience for our students to go through that audition process even if the results aren't what they wanted in the end.

"We have got some youngsters and adults who will be taking part who have got pretty outstanding voices."

A total of six Elgar School of Music students will audition, alongside many others from the Worcester area.

Singers lucky enough to secure an audition spot are busy preparing a song to impress producers – and if they are picked, they could be singing for celebrity judges Tom Jones, Will.I.Am, Gavin Rossdale and Jennifer Hudson on the show next year.

A spokesman for The Voice confirmed the show will be visiting the school to find talent for next year's series – but as it is a "preliminary stage", the auditions will not be filmed.
