MP Harriett Baldwin helped to make a Malvern connection during her visit to Malaysia on a Ministry of Defence trip.
Harriett met Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak, a graduate of Malvern College, and presented him with a picture of the world-famous Malvern Hills together with a letter from prime minister Theresa May.
The pair discussed life in the town and the stunning views of the Malvern Hills which were fondly remembered by the Malaysian prime minister.
A photo of the presentation, also featuring Malaysia's defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein, was then tweeted to the prime minister’s 3.3 million Twitter followers.
Harriett’s trip as part of her Ministry of Defence duties involved leading a trade delegation to the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition to deepen bilateral defence, security, and business ties.
Mrs Baldwin said: “Wherever I go in the world, I do try to share some idea of the beauty of the Worcestershire countryside with my foreign counterparts.
“I was delighted to meet with the Prime Minister and for him to share some happy memories of Malvern.
“I hope that this meeting and the power of his three million Twitter followers will mean more people will want to come and see our beautiful views for themselves.”
