A VOLUNTEER who has battled cerebral palsy her whole life has received an award.

Ceileigh Langford, 20, who is also profoundly deaf with a severe sight impairment and physical difficulties was presented with a Young Solutions Worcestershire Tryangle bravery award.

She was nominated for her work with Roundabout, a furniture reuse charity based at the Blackminster Business Park near Evesham.

Manager of Roundabout, Peter Andrews who nominated her said: "Ceileigh thoroughly deserves her recognition for the commitment she has shown to Roundabout for the past 4 years.

"Ceileigh’s mission in life is to try and keep everything spotlessly clean and champion the philosophy of furniture reuse.

"The awards evening was an emotional and proud occasion for Ceileigh’s family. Ceileigh exemplifies everything that Roundabout strives to achieve."

Ms Langford received the award at Worcestershire’s annual volunteering awards which celebrate the efforts of young people, who despite health, disability or social problems manage to overcome adversity at home, at school or college, or within the community.

She recently attended a special gala awards ceremony at Worcester Bosch in Worcester.

Mr Andrews added: "Roundabout is widely known for providing material assistance to those in need across Worcestershire, the North Cotswolds and West Warwickshire but less known is the provision made for volunteers with physical and mental disabilities.

"Roundabout has over 50 regular volunteers and without them Roundabout would not exist.

"A significant number of the volunteers have a degree of disability both physical and mental and Roundabout provides a safe and stimulating environment to allow individuals to realise their potential."

Roundabout has a number of volunteer vacancies in particular at the contact centre and as van drivers.
