A MET police sergeant, living near Worcester, whose career was in ruins after he admitted putting private sex photos of a woman on Facebook died in a mystery crash.

Sgt Tim Lundy, aged 44, pleaded guilty earlier this month to disclosing private and intimate photos of the woman with intent to cause her distress.

He had denied a catalogue of other similar offences against the same woman and was awaiting trial at Gloucester Crown court on July 24.

But on March 16 Sgt Lundy died when he crashed his Jaguar XKR car into a tree not far from his home in Mandalay Drive, Norton, near Worcester.

An inquest has been opened into his death and adjourned until Wednesday, July 12.

As we reported on Friday, March 17, Sgt Lundy was certified dead at the scene of the crash on March 16, on the A422 Stratford rd near Upton Snodsbury, Worcs.

Paramedics found him trapped in a silver Jaguar XKR which had hit a tree. The car had been seen to leave the road and hit the tree as he was driving towards Libbery shortly before 9am.

Police said at the time that they would like to hear from the drivers of a blue Ford Torneo and a silver Mazda who may have witnessed the collision.

The crash closed the road between Spetchley Island and the B4082, Pershore Road, near Upton Snodsbury, for most of that day.

A copy of his death certificate will be formally produced to Gloucester crown court on Monday when it is expected the case file will be closed.

Sgt Lundy who had been suspended from duty by the Met because of the allegations against him, had made several appearances before the court in preparation for a trial later this year.

At the last hearing on March 1 he pleaded guilty to disclosing private sexual photographs of the woman with intent to cause her distress between 25-28 July 2016 by amending a Facebook profile and disclosing private sexual photographs without her consent.

He also admitted an offence of harassment.

The court was told at the last hearing that Lundy was receiving psychiatric treatment.
