CREATIVE youngsters are being invited to take part in an Easter-themed craft session at church.

Messy Church, a St Andrew's in Droitwich, will take place on Saturday, April 15, between 10am and 12pm.

Children can make Easter baskets, cards, chicks, an edible Easter garden and will be given a chocolate egg to take home.

The event will be extra special, as it will celebrate Darwin and Willow Brookes – who have regularly attended Messy Church, and recently won a national drawing competition.

The Real Easter Egg competition, run by Meaningful Chocolate Company, was open to youngsters around the country – with the siblings being picked from thousands of entries.

St Andrew's Messy Church will receive £250, while the winners will be given a special Easter egg each.

Rev Bev Jameson, team vicar Droitwich Spa, Salwarpe and Hindlip with Martin Hussingtree, said: "We are so proud of Willow and Darwin they really wished to win the £250 prize for the Messy Church they love and they spent ages on their drawings.

"I know they will enjoy the chocolate eggs they have won on Easter Sunday."

David Marshall, chief executive officer of the Meaningful Chocolate Company, said: "One of the special things about The Real Easter Egg is that we share the Easter story in a book which comes free with each egg.

"We were fascinated to see how young people would draw the story which is at the heart of Easter.

"We chose Darwin and Willow’s pictures as winners because their pictures are full of joy and detail which is appropriate for the Easter narrative.

"In Darwin’s picture, you can see the angel pointing at the risen Jesus and Willow’s picture shows the shock and joy on the faces of the women who meet the angel at the empty tomb."
