FIRE engulfed 100 tonnes of hay on land in Stone, near Kidderminster.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze in Stanklyn Lane on the A448.
A crew from Bewdley and another from Kidderminster's Green Watch 24 rushed to the scene and a Land Rover was used to transport firefighters and their equipment to the blaze in a field.
Water was taken from Stanklyn Pool, using three hose reel jets, to tackle the blaze.
A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire Bewdley said: "Thanks to the digger driver who assisted us today saving us hours of labour."
The blaze took place at about 1pm on Saturday.
No one was reported injured.
