WITH just three days left to register online for the Worcester Hearty Walk families are being urged to put their best foot forward to help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Walkers can take advantage of a reduced entrance fee of £5 if they register online by Sunday, April 23. Registrations are also welcome on the day, but will cost £8.

The sponsored family walk, which takes place on Sunday, April 30, is a circular route of either three or six miles starting and finishing at Worcestershire County Cricket ground.

Entrants can choose either route, both on flat gravelled paths, with the shorter walk ideal for families with younger children. Everyone, including dogs are encouraged to wear something red and there will be prizes for the best dressed and for winning entrants who solve the clues to look out for along the way.

Hearty, the BHF mascot will be there to greet children who can enter for free but must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian who has registered for the walk.

Dave Hall, of the Worcestershire BHF Fundraising Group, a heart patient himself, is hoping the event will top last year, which raised over £2,000.

He said: "The aim of the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal is to raise enough money to fund the British Heart Foundation’s ground-breaking research that could help the heart to ‘heal itself’ and prevent thousands of people developing further heart problems.

“We all know someone who has been affected by heart disease, this is your opportunity to raise funds to support the research that can give them more hope for the future.”
