THERE are just a few weeks to go until the 2017 charity version of Strictly Worcestershire.

The black tie fundraiser, taking place at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich on Thursday, May 25, is being organised by former contestants Julia Williams and Granville Orange.

Funds raised will be going to Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Awareness Group and the £1.6m Rory the Robot Appeal.

Sponsored by drp and A1 Recruitment Solutions, the event is contested by eight couples from the county’s business community, all aiming to lift the prized glitterball trophy in front of a 760-strong audience.

Taking part are Charlotte Page and George Pickard, Tracy and Anthony Lowe, Fiona Watson and Jonathan Bell, Rachel and Paul Andrews, Sarah Preece and Nick Griffiths, Andy and Karen Haynes, Anita Gatehouse and Derek Simmonds and Ryan Shemwell and Lauren Baker.

TV and radio presenter Adrian Chiles, who hails from Hagley, is hosting with the judges being Lord Digby Jones, Bob Warman, dancer and choreographer Katie Love and choreographer Jennifer Bennett Price.

To promote the event a colourful SW4 truck decorated with photos of contestant couples in the annual dance spectacular has hit the road. The truck is the brainchild of Paul Andrews, chief executive of AMCO Services International, who is teaming up with wife Rachel to take part.

The truck recently stopped off at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich, which is hosting the event for the fourth successive year, and at New Road, workplace of contestant Fiona Watson, for the first day of Worcestershire County Cricket Club's opening Specsavers County Championship match.

Event co-producer Granville Orange said: “As soon as Paul mentioned the idea of using truck livery to promote Strictly Worcestershire we couldn’t wait to jump on board.
