A father and son duo have sealed a deal with Worcester Warriors to hold their third weekly car boot event.

Bob and Evan Newby are becoming well known in the Car Boot community, which are stereotypically seen to be held in muddy fields.

The pair already run Gloucester Car Boot and Flea Market twice a week, and the Ross-on-Wye Car Boot Sale on Sunday mornings.

Bob said: “When we assumed the management of Gloucester’s Hempsted Meadows site in 2014, the Council there was lucky to attract 30-40 Boots a day in the Winter, now we average 200 and more in the Summer.

“Boots have been tried at Sixways before, but they have always been in the morning and gone head-to-head with the established local competition and struggled to get established.

“Our Sixways Boot will trade in the afternoon, starting at midday when the others are closing.

“That way in addition to attracting Buyers and Sellers who like to enjoy a Sunday morning under the duvet, we will also attract folk who want to trade or buy at more than one car boot a day.”

The duo say that they welcome a range of sellers to their car boot events, to attract a variety of customers.

Bob added: “Our policy is diversity, so as well as private car boot sellers, we encourage traders selling household goods, clothes, tools, refrigerated fresh meat, fruit & veg and more, a complete market experience.”

Sunday afternoon Car Boots start at Sixways Stadium on Sunday May 7 and run from midday until 4pm.
