ART and design students have created a life-sized sculpture made from tubular steel.

The Heart of Worcestershire College students worked with engineering company Lister on the project.

The students began the project with a visit to the company’s factory in March before being set a brief to create their designs around their understanding of the company's values and products.

The designs were presented to Lister's chief executive Peter Davies who selected six to be put forward for consideration.

He said: "The students demonstrated very strong technical skills in producing the models and obviously put a lot of thought and care into their designs.

"The standard of work was so high that, even though we could only select a few to take forward at this stage, we truly considered them all great pieces of art."

Lewis Dyer, a level 2 art and design student, said: "This project has allowed me to use a multitude of different methods and techniques such as spray painting.

"It has also given me the experience of working with a client which will be useful in later life."

The winning designs will be created and displayed to the public in various locations around Redditch and Bromsgrove.
