CHURCH members will be visiting a farm to meet those who give them their 'daily bread' and better understand the challenges faced by farmers.

People from across the diocese will be visiting Manor Farm in Lower Wick, Worcester, on Tuesday, May 23 at 7pm.

The visit coincides with Rogation, which is a time for asking God to bless the land for the coming growing season, when the crops are just starting to come through and the livestock are turned back out into pasture after the winter. Parishioners will walk around Manor Farm finding out more about what happens in each area and stopping for prayer, reflection and hymn singing at various places.

The visit has been organised by the Chaplaincy for Agriculture and Rural Life (CARL).

The Rev David Morris is part of the chaplaincy team.

He said: “Traditionally rogation has been a time to walk the fields or the parish boundaries. Visiting a farm to reflect and pray for all that goes on there is a great opportunity to thank God for his creation and for all that goes into producing the food that we so often take for granted.”

Manor Farm is owned by Chris Bennett who is also a member of CARL.

He said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to show people what happens on a working farm and we’ll certainly appreciate the prayers! I hope that people from across the area can come and join us.”

All are welcome to come along and join the prayer walk. Afterwards there will be refreshments, including some Bennnett’s ice cream.
