THE Battle of Worcester Society has organised a lunch with traditional musical entertainment at a historic county pub.

The society will have its lunch at the 15th century Fleece Inn at Bretforton, near Evesham, on Sunday, May 21 at 12.30pm for 1pm which is open to all.

The Fleece, owned by the National Trust, has confirmed that they will make a sweet potato with asparagus and leek pie, new potatoes and salad for vegetarians.

The price is £20 and the meal is open to all to attend with cheques payable to the society or on the day but those who are interested in attending should let society chairman Richard Shaw know by Wednesday, May 17.

The first Civil War Nights speaker will give a talk at the Commandery at 7pm on Thursday, May 18.

The guest speaker is Stuart Peachey, historian and author, and there will be a collection of his books for sale.

His talk is entitled 'A Soldier's Life' about the common soldier in the Civil War. The Commandery have his book by this title which the society will be selling for them for £29.
