YOUNG performers have received a message from none other than Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber wishing them well with their latest show.

Members of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section (WODYS) were thrilled to receive the good luck message from the famous composer as they rehearse for their upcoming production of Whistle Down The Wind.

He sent a letter offering the cast, crew, musicians and all involved in the show good wishes for a wonderful opening night on Tuesday, August 1, and an enjoyable and successful run.

WODYS chairman, producer and director, David Humphries, said: The youngsters were overjoyed to be recognised by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who is arguably the most successful composer of our time and they cannot wait to perform the musical."

The musical follows a group of children who discover an escaped prisoner in a barn and is based on the film starring Hayley Mills.

WODYS is made up of 59 young people, aged from eight to 18.

The production of Whistle Down The Wind will run at the Swan Theatre, from Tuesday to Saturday, August 1 to 5.
