A LOTTERY work syndicate has scooped a staggering £200,000 to share between them.

Ten Bricklehampton Hall Nursing Home staff from matron to maintenance men will now be able to each take home £20,743 after winning £207, 435.10 in the EuroMillions draw.

Stunned syndicate leader and matron of Bricklehampton Hall Nursing Home, Shirley Archer, arrived at work to find her daughter Naomi Archer, who also works at the home, and a colleague shaking in disbelief as they stared at the EuroMillions results checker.

Mrs Archer said: "Naomi was holding the phone and her hand was shaking like a leaf.

"She was with our Patient Services Manager Annie Humphrey and they were screaming ‘we’ve won, we’ve won the Lottery.

"They showed me the phone revealing the massive amount and the rest is a bit hazy.”

The trio then contacted the rest of the syndicate before calling The National Lottery to confirm the win.

Ms Humphrey added: " No-one would believe us. Even when I showed those in work the winning amount on the phone screen, they thought we were joking."

Miss Archer, an assistant diversional therapist, said. "As Annie was on the phone to Camelot to confirm the win, we were huddled in the office next to her.

"We were making quite a noise by that point and were jumping up and down in the background. It was just incredible and no-one could take it in. We just kept smiling and laughing.”

Mrs Archer added: "I called everyone who wasn’t in work.

"I have to admit I had quite a hard time convincing people over the phone it was true.

"Everyone just kept saying ‘things like this don’t happen to people like us’.

"Once I was done, Nicky, our bursar, rushed home and got a couple of bottles of bubbly and some cakes from the local farm shop and we all had a bit of a celebration in the office."

The syndicate matched 5 main numbers and a Lucky Star.

The syndicate all from the Evesham and Worcester areas plan to spend their winnings on various things including holidays to Croatia and Dubai and Miss Archer plans to put hers towards a deposit on a house.

Also included in the syndicate are bursar Nicky Haines, administration assistant Sarah Payne, deputy matron Lisa Vincent, nurse Karen Bayley and maintenance workers Alan Griffin and Simon Webb as well as one other staff member.

They have played ten lucky dips on Friday’s EuroMillions draw each week for the last 18 months and this is their first big win.

The EuroMillions draw takes place every Tuesday and Friday.

The syndicate’s winning lucky dip ticket was purchased at the Tesco Express, in High Street, Pershore, and their winning EuroMillions numbers were 3, 7, 30, 35, 43 and the Lucky Star 1.
