A HOME care company for older people has received an outstanding CQC rating.

Home Instead Senior Care Worcester based in Bromwich Road became the first homecare provider in the county that specialises in elderly care to receive the rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in its new Ofsted style rating system.

Owner and founder of the company, Mark Hamer said: “This Outstanding rating wouldn’t have been possible without the professionalism of my whole team. They are dedicated to giving our older clients across Worcestershire a dignified standard of care, care that comes straight from the heart.”

Mr Hamer started the company five years ago, after watching a loved one go into care and asking questions about how care services are traditionally provided.

He questioned so many seniors end up in residential care when he thought that with help and support, they can continue in their own home.

The company currently has 75 people receiving care and support ranges from help around the home, with washing and dressing or meals and also includes trips out to their clients' favourite spots.

Andrea Sutcliffe, chief inspector of Adult Social Care at the CQC, said: "The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements. An outstanding service is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”

The report, released last week, gave the staff a good rating for being safe, effective and responsive whilst it received outstanding for its caring and leadership.

The report added: "People we spoke with said they felt confident with the staff who supported them.

"People we spoke with told us staff were caring and compassionate. We saw and heard a sense of fondness

between people and the staff who supported them.

"Relatives we spoke with informed us the staff showed a high level of compassion towards their family members. "All the people we spoke with explained how staff went over and above what they expected from them and they couldn't ask for anything more."
