A GROUP of young people walked in the Malvern Hills to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

The sponsored walk was part of an education project involving 15 teenagers, which focused on the link between exercise and mental health.

Heidi Bowdler, a student at Worcester University, has been carrying out the initiative with young people in Dines Green, Worcester, since February.

Alice Bryne, lead youth worker at the Green Hub, said the youngsters have been taking part in weekly activities as part of the project.

"Some young people expressed an interest in going to the Malverns as they had not been before," she said.

"In collaboration with Paul Edwards from Fortis Living we organised a trip and did a sponsored walk to the top of the Malverns.

"We had great fun and enjoyed the experience but they also helped to raise money for a good cause."

Cllr Richard Udall, who represents Dines Green on the county and city councils, said: "These kids enjoyed themselves and have learnt a lot in the process.

"We hope to be able to do more of this kind of work which will show Dines Green kids are dedicated, hard working and supportive of their community."
