NO ONE could live with Graham Wallace’s power off the tee or accuracy as he convincingly won Bransford Golf Club’s prestigious Hope Cup.

Wallace, who normally plays off a handicap of two, carded a splendid one-under par 71 as he won by ten clear shots.

Chris Eyers was runner up on 81, followed by three golfers on 84 - Steve Bolton, David Lamb and Andy Kennedy, and then came Gordon Jack and Alastair Hunt both with 86.

In the Rabbits Cup, Steve Bourne managed to stay ahead of the rest of the field by two shots in Division One. Bourne had the competition’s lowest gross score finishing with an 87 and playing off 14 this just saw him home with a nett 73 from Darren Jones and Jodie Bennett who finished 91-16=75 and 94-19=75 respectively.

Other leading scores were Mervyn Miles 98-18=80 and Jason Beck 97-17=80.

Sean Jones led the way in Division Two with the lowest gross and finished seven shots clear of runner-up Brian Sanders.

Leading scores were Jones 87-19=68, Sanders 103-28=75, Jenny Bennett 101-21=80, Steve Mrvic 100-19-81 and Roger Weston 101-19=82.

Bransford Seniors continued their run of good form in home club matches when they picked up another win by 4 1/2 to 1 1/2 over Redditch club Abbey Park with three of their pairings winning by sizeable margins.

Bransford scores: Dave Miller (18) and Neil Sheldon (21) halved, Gerry Rebbeck (15) and Brian Lawrence (22) won one up, Trevor Atkinson (15) and Andrew Jarvis (24) won 6 and 4, Mike Davidge (17) and Mike Holmes (28) lost one down, Ivor Lloyd (18) and Roger Clark (23) won 7 and 5 and Lee Dyment (18) and John Phillips (21) won 6 and 5.

Gerry Rebbeck finished top of Division One in the second round of Bransford Seniors’ Summer Stableford League.

However, it was a tight run affair as the 14-handicapper collected 36 points, one more than Mike Davidge (17) on 35, and they were followed by Barry Benge (19) 34 and Bob McGrath (20) and Richard Steele (15) both on 33.

Division Two went the way of John Knowles (24) with 38 points, three ahead of Andrew Jarvis (24) and then came Geoff Aston (22) and Rob Wetton (23) on 35, Brian Lawrence (22) with 34 and Bob Matthews (24) on 32.

Easily claiming first place in Division Three was Adrian Wood (26). His score of 37 points was six ahead of Andy Lamb (26) who in turn was followed by Steve Littlewood (28) and Dick Bettsworth (26) 30 and Allen Rowberry (27) 28.After two rounds Roy Burston is the current pace-setter in Division One on 73 points, followed by McGrath 68, Trevor Atkinson 65 and Dave Miller 63. Aston is four points ahead of Benge in Division Two - 78 to 74, while Tony Bowman has 72 and Lawrence and Jarvis both 70.

In Division Three, Wood is on 72, four points ahead of Bettsworth and then comes Matthews on 65 and Malcolm Bradley with 62.
