FIVE Worcester women are set to cycle 100km through London’s streets in aid of ‘Women versus Cancer’.

The group, calling themselves The Cyclopaths, will complete their 6.5 hour ride at night, setting off from Windsor Castle at 10.30pm, sporting bike and body lights and glow in the dark accessories.

They expect to join thousands of women who are affected by cancer to support Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer.

The ‘Ride the Night’ challenge will take place this Saturday.

Worcester teacher Kate Cunliffe, who is team leader, said: ‘We have been training as a team since January and it was hard at first, especially in winter and dragging ourselves out of bed in the dark and the cold.

"We have cycled in snow, frost, rain, wind and are very glad that the summer is now nearly here and are hoping for a nice warm night in May.

"We are not seasoned cyclists but we have trained hard together to be ready for the challenge.’

Mrs Cunliffe, who has battled cancer herself, said ‘We are doing this both as women and as mums.

"There is not one of us that hasn't been affected in some way by cancer either through family or close friends and we are doing this for them and the thousands of women who fight this disease every year.

"I am very proud of what we are doing."

"We are really grateful to family and friends who have supported us so far but would welcome any further donations for this amazing cause."
