TWO dedicated fundraisers will walk from Worcester to Bristol at the weekend for Malvern Special Families.

Kerrin Fearns and Briony Mills set themselves the challenge of walking the length of the Severn Way which runs over 200 miles from Plynlimon in Wales via Worcester to Bristol, to help raise awareness for Malvern Special Families as the charity celebrates 30 years of supporting local families.

The first half took them five days to walk from Plynlimon to Worcester and saw them overcome hurdles like overgrown paths, stinging nettles and blisters.

This weekend’s second and final part of their journey will see them clock up a total of 224 miles to help highlight the good work that Malvern Special Families does for the community.

They are setting out early this morning (Friday) and the journey is expected to take them three days.

Kerrin, of Worcester, said: “Malvern Special Families have made a massive difference to my life by providing safe and stimulating play schemes to my daughter over the last 10 years.

"They are a fantastic organisation which is used by many local families and they provide opportunities for children with disabilities to enjoy activities which may not ordinarily be available to them.

"Briony and I set ourselves this personal challenge and took the opportunity to fundraise for a brilliant cause at the same time. Please donate if you are able - the cost of a coffee to you would mean so much more to these children.”

Cassie Zoro, the charity's community fundraiser, said: “Kerrin and Briony have set themselves a brilliant and tough challenge to help raise awareness for Malvern Special Families.

"We wish them fine weather and the best of luck for the weekend and are encouraging anyone else who would like to fundraise for a local charity to get in contact with MSF and get involved to help us celebrate 30 years of our small charity.”

Malvern Special Families provides clubs and play schemes to children and young people with disabilities aged five to 19 during out-of-school hours in Malvern and Worcester, and now supports over 175 families.
