AN author and historian will shed light on the English Civil War and its aftermath at a talk about Oliver Cromwell and Parliament.
The talk is at the Great Hall of the Commandery in Sidbury, Worcester this Thursday (June 8) at 7pm.
Doors open at 6pm.
The speaker is Dr Stephen Roberts and his chosen subject is 'Oliver Cromwell and Parliament'.
The cost is £7 or £5 to Battle of Worcester Society members and £3 to students.
Dr Stephen Roberts is editor of the History of Parliament's forthcoming volumes on the House of Commons, 1640-1660.
He oversees and contributes to the writing of biographies of all 1,800 MPs who sat in the Commons in that period and is author of over 50 publications on aspects of mid-17th century England and Wales.
Dr Roberts has contributed 40 articles to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
He is a vice-president of the Cromwell Association, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and of the Society of Antiquaries of London, honorary general editor of the Worcestershire Historical Society, and co-editor of the academic journal, Midland History.
