TRAVELLERS are still on a playing field despite being served with a notice to leave immediately.
There were 16 caravans in King George V Playing Fields, Worcester, on Tuesday, with locals claiming that the group arrived on Sunday.
The police issued a community protection order on Tuesday after reports of minor anti-social behaviour issues, such as people urinating in hedges.
A traveller on the site said the group were from Ireland and travelling to the Appleby Horse Fair.
Worcester City Council issued the travellers with a notice to leave immediately, on Tuesday.
A traveller told a Worcester News reporter that the group intended to leave on Wednesday night and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
A city council spokesman said they are prepared to go to court if the travellers do not move within the next couple of days.
