A WOMAN has admitted unfair trading after failing to register students with the relevant professional body.

Kay Turford was arraigned at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday where she admitted 11 counts after trading standards brought a prosecution against her.

The 60-year-old of Charlemont, Crookbarrow Road, Norton, near Worcester, entered guilty pleas to 11 counts of engaging, either knowingly or recklessly, in a commercial practice at her Elite Nail and Beauty Academy business in contravention of the requirements of professional diligence in that she failed to register the students with the official body, the Vocational Training Charitable Trust, known as VTCT.

Each of the 11 counts referred to a specific student she had failed to register with the VTCT.

The offences took place at various dates between September, 2014 and November, 2015.

David Munro, prosecuting, said Turford was of previous good character and asked the case to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service.

The case was adjourned for sentence until June 29.
