COSTUMES and props from some of the world's most famous superstars will be bringing the bling to Worcester from tomorrow.

Celebrity, the latest exhibition at Worcester Art Gallery and Museum, presents an exciting collection of costumes and props, past and present, from Marilyn Monroe's little black dress to the famous purple coat worn in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Visitors of all ages will instantly recognise props from movies including Titanic to the Flintstones and the Addams Family.

Fans of the golden days of Hollywood can see Fred Astaire's shoes and Doris Day's exquisite rhinestone bracelet.

It's not just film fans who are in for a thrill; for music lovers there are signed items by Chuck Berry and Oasis, Rihanna's headband, and even a Michael Jackson Dangerous tour jacket.

Visitors to Celebrity can also dress up as their favourite screen star, immortalise themselves at the selfie spot and play their favourite tracks on the jukebox.

Philippa Tinsley, the museum's senior curator, said: “We are simply star-struck at the objects from famous names in Celebrity. We are very used to having world-class art at the gallery, but seeing iconic objects from the big and small screen is amazing. We're sure visitors will love getting that little bit closer to their idols through these incredible costumes and props.”

Celebrity is on throughout the summer holidays and there are lots of family-friendly activity days planned including make your own tiara, create pirate costumes and treasure chests and build your own mini film set. Visitors can go to museumsworcestershire.org.uk to see all the Celebrity activities on throughout the summer.

The exhibition is also the theme of the second Museum After Hours event tonight (Friday) from 5.30pm to 8pm, when visitors can enjoy Marilyn Monroe cocktails and listen to music by the Cocktail Hour band. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.

The exhibition at the museum in Foregate Street is free to enter. The museum is open on Mondays to Saturdays from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
