THE new chairman of Worcestershire County Council is looking to make her mark at County Hall.
Cllr Anne Hingley, also a former mayor, was elected as chairman on May 25.
Born in Yorkshire in 1940, she moved to the Midlands shortly after the end of the Second World War.
The mother to three and grandmother to six children was educated at the convent in Kidderminster and worked at Mill Street Hospital in administration.
This began her lifelong interest in health and she joined the Hospital League of Friends Committee and represented them on the local Health Authority.
Later, she chaired the Wolverley Learning Disability NHS Trust, before moving to serve as chairman on the South Birmingham Mental Health NHS Trust.
She is a lifelong member of the Women's Institute and has also been a Scout Leader in Hagley Ramblers.
She was elected to Wyre Forest District Council in 2004 and Worcestershire County Council in 2009. She was also the Mayor of Kidderminster for the municipal year 2011-12.
During her civic year, she wishes to highlight the members' role of corporate parenting.
