MEMBERS of David Lloyd Worcester rode to London and back in a day - without leaving the gym.

David Lloyd Worcester invited members of its Sixways club to join its team in a static cycle ride to London and beyond in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Throughout the day, members were able to pedal towards the overall goal of ‘cycling’ the 132 miles from Worcester to London.

When the goal was achieved by mid afternoon, the members decided to cycle the return journey as well.

The day was a fantastic success with all team members wearing red and lots of different related fundraising activities running throughout the day including name the Unicorn, a heart treasure hunt, a raffle, face painting, kids’ parties and who could do the longest tennis rally alongside the cycle ride.

Cyclists could re-fuel after their exertions with red cakes baked to raise money for the charity and a chill out Napercise class to decrease their heart beats after the bike ride and tennis rally.

David Lloyd Worcester’s general manager Stuart Cashmore said:  “Everyone loves The British Heart Foundation and it is David Lloyd’s chosen charity.

"Of course we choose fitness related fundraising and as we are a family club, this is a great way for adults and kids to enjoy a bit of fun and exercise whilst supporting this fantastic cause. "Our members are always enthusiastic about getting involved and having fun too with what we organise, so we all enjoyed a great event”

The event yesterday raised £685 for the British Heart Foundation and part of a series of regular fundraising at the Worcester club throughout the year.
