A DRUG dealer who organised child prostitution in Malvern is behind bars after the victim found the courage to speak out about ‘horrendous’ abuse.

A man and a woman were jailed for a total of 28 years on Tuesday after a six week trial at Stafford Crown Court.

The courage of the complainant was a vital part of the painstaking case and West Mercia Police hopes other victims in similar cases will come forward, knowing officers will investigate reports of abuse.

Neil James Bozward, aged 45 of Duke of Edinburgh Way, Malvern was found guilty of inciting child prostitution, aiding and abetting rape, and two counts of supplying class A drugs.

Bozward was sentenced on Tuesday to a total of 23 years in prison. The sentence included seven years for inciting child prostitution, 15 years each for three counts of aiding and abetting rape (to run concurrently) and a year for two counts of drugs conspiracy for supplying heroin and crack cocaine (to run concurrently).

Hayley Louise Rowberry, aged 36 from Willes Road, Handsworth, previously from Malvern, was found guilty of controlling prostitution for gain and sentenced to five years in prison.

Brandon Young and Elliot Whittock were both charged with rape of a female over the age of 16 and were both found not-guilty at the trial.

West Mercia Police Detective Inspector Stuart Murphy, who led the investigation, said: “This was a painstaking investigation by the team at Worcester into a tragic case of child prostitution.

“The sentences given reflect the severity of the offences. I would like to give my sincere thanks to the victim and her family, firstly for having the courage to come forward and disclose these horrendous crimes to the police, and secondly for her bravery in reliving the nightmare by having to give evidence in court.

“There is a long road ahead for the victim but hopefully the sentences given will help to give her some closure and allow her to move on with her life.

“Anyone who has been the victim of a sexual offence can be reassured that if they choose to come forward to West Mercia Police they will be treated in a caring and sensitive manner.

“Specially trained officers and dedicated independent sexual advisors will give them all the support they can.

“Additionally, West Mercia Police will work hard to prosecute those responsible whilst also taking into account the wishes of the victim.”
