WORCESTER Golf and Country Club member Sam Hitchings has a reason to celebrate after recording a notable double.
He lifted his first main trophy in 20 years of membership when his stableford score of 39 points proved enough to win.
But Hitchings also scored a second career hole-in-one when his seven-wood tee shot found the bottom of the cup on the 182-yard sixth.
George Lodge Trophy victor Hitchings' back-nine effort of 22 points pushed Phil Green back into second place on countback.
Alan Bradley was third on 38.
A large entry enjoyed the June sunshine in the Thursday medal.
The winner with 76 gross 10 handicap 66 nett was Dave Lannie who recorded his first medal success for a number of years following a serious illness.
Runner-up on 72-5-67 was Andy Abbott who also lifted the competition’s lowest gross prize.
Steve McCarthy returned to form to grab third with 76-9-67.
Andy Baker (75-5-70) was fourth and John Hatt (82-12-70) fifth.
Countback sorted out the positions in Division Two with three players recording 71 nett.
Dave Bradley (88-17-71) finished just ahead of in-form Colin Francis (86-15-71) and Haydn Evans (89-18-71) was third.
Greg Edwards (94-22-72) was fourth and John Fellows (88-15-73) finished fifth.
