POLICE have called off the search for a young boy seen running alone on an Evesham Road.
The police received concerned calls about the boy who was seen in Albert Road at 7.40pm on Sunday.
West Mercia Police has moved to end speculation on social media of a ‘missing’ boy by confirming no report of a missing child was made.
Police carried out an extensive door-to-door search and even deployed a helicopter to find the boy.
However, the search was brought to an end after no boy was found.
West Mercia Police said they believe the initial call to them was made in ‘good faith.’
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "West Mercia Police received a report at around 7.40pm yesterday (Sunday 25 June), of a young boy who was seen running on Albert Road, Evesham.
"After an extensive local door to door and helicopter search, police stood down after no boy was found.
"It is believed that the call was received in good faith."
