TIME is running out to bid for cash in the latest Worcester Lions Community Grant scheme.

The scheme invites local community groups to apply for a share of £1,500, collected by the Lions over recent months.

Administered by the Worcester News, previous rounds of the grant scheme have already benefited dozens of local groups in and around Worcester.

The most recent round of grants, earlier this year, saw money awarded to organisations including The Little Lambs toddler group, which meets at St John’s Church, in Worcester, RNIB New College, Barnardo’s, the Worcestershire Parents and Carers Community and Second Chance Furnishing, the trading arm of St Paul’s Hostel, at Tallow Hill.

Other previous recipients have included Hereford and Worcester Dyslexia Association, Survivors Worcester, Asha Women’s Centre, Worcestershire Pensioners Action Group, Good Soil Project, Aspie, New Hope, Hallow Village Community Group, St John Ambulance, Maggs Day Centre, Art In Minds, Acton Mill Care Farm, Oropharyngeal Cancer Support Group and St Paul’s Hostel.

The money has gone towards funding a vast array of things from buying new books, and an electric piano to helping with the costs of running jewellery courses, hydro pool sessions, numeracy and literacy groups and helping with transport costs.

Groups can apply for a grant up to the value of £300.

To apply, write to: Worcester Lions Club Grant Scheme, Stephanie Preece, News Desk, Worcester News, Hylton Road, Worcester WR2 5JX.

Applicants must include the full name of the organisation, a contact name and telephone number, how much money is being applied for and an explanation of how the money will be used.

The closing date for applications is Friday, June 30, so make sure your application reaches us in time. Worcester Lions Club is looking for new members.
