SPECIAL sessions are taking place to help runners get in shape for this year's Worcester City 10k and Half Marathon.

The 'Start Me Up For Worcester' sessions are open to runners of all abilities and are are designed to help people prepare for the 10K and the half marathon, a new addition for 2017, both taking place on Sunday, September 17.

The next Start Me Up session takes place at Perdiswell Leisure Centre, in Bilford Road, Worcester, at 6pm on Friday (June 30).

The session is being supported by Worcester City Run event partners Freedom Leisure and Totum Sport and every participant will benefit from a training session with a qualified run leader and get access to special event offers.

The session is free but places are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis by emailing info@worcestercityrun.com.

Entries for the Worcester City Half Marathon cost £35 for unaffiliated runners (£33 for affiliated) and entries for the Worcester City 10K cost £27 for unaffiliated runners (£25 for affiliated).

A Young Athletes Run (one mile for under 11s and 3k for under 16s) is also taking place on the day, with entries costing £8.
