WALKERS using a popular riverside path in Worcester are being reassured that a crack in a wall poses no danger.

Railings with a 'danger, keep out' sign were put up a month ago around the crack in the wall running along the path in Kleve Walk, next to the river.

With fears the wall could collapse, a Worcester News reporter contacted Worcester City Council and Worcestershire County Council but both authorities said they had not put up the railings and were not involved in a repair.

A Diocese of Worcester spokesman, on behalf of Worcester Cathedral, has told the Worcester News that they were made aware of the crack and have been checking it to make sure it gets no bigger.

The spokesman said: "We are aware of the crack and have been monitoring it.

"It doesn’t appear to have got any worse and our professional advisors have not suggested it’s a risk to those using the path.

"We are currently trying to discover who has put up the fencing to discuss this with them."

Kleeve Walk is a popular riverside walking spot regularly used by dog walkers and cyclists. It is also known to flood regularly.
