AN investigation has launched after a woman was sexually assaulted while walking her dog in Stourport.

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place on Tuesday, (July 11) at around 9.50pm.

The woman, in her 50s, was walking her dog along the footpath, between the Slad and Bigbury Lane, when the suspect approached from behind and inappropriately touched her.

The suspect is described as a man around 5ft 3ins in height and of a slim build.

He was wearing dark coloured trousers and a dark hooded top at the time of the incident.

Inspector James Ashton, for West Mercia Police, said: "We take incidents of this nature very seriously and a robust investigation is underway.

"I would urge anyone who saw this incident or a man matching this description in the area at the time to please contact police or Crimestoppers."
