A 23-YEAR-OLD Gloucestershire woman is raising money ahead of her trip to Uganda to help a charity which supports entrepreneurs in the African nation.

Rose Henderson, who lives in Cheltenham, will be volunteering in Kampala with Challenges Worldwide from October to December this year.

She said: “Challenges Worldwide is a pioneering social enterprise with a simple belief – that building a strong economy is the best way to alleviate poverty. They support entrepreneurs and small enterprises in low income countries to develop their businesses.

“I will be working, along with a Ugandan volunteer, with a local company to help analyse the business, suggest improvements and help implement them.”

She added: “Before I set off, I am fundraising for Challenges Worldwide. I have been making and selling my handmade sweet cones at car boot sales, including Ullenwood, Cheltenham Racecourse and in Wotton-under-Edge.

“I have challenged myself to complete a 2km nightswim at the Sandford Parks Lido (setting off at midnight on Saturday July 22) and am seeking sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues.

“I will also be hosting a pub quiz at The Bierkeller in Cheltenham on Thursday July 20. I've managed to secure some really great donated prizes, including from Airborne Trampoline Park and JDR Karting. It's promising to be a really busy night.”
