A MAN has been arrested following a number of sex attacks in the city.

The 27-year-old man has been released under investigation, with the most recent offence occurring on Diglis Bridge in Worcester last Tuesday (July 18) between 7.45pm and 8pm.

The female victim was jogging by the riverside, when she became aware of a white man who she remembers wearing red shorts, sat on a bench, with a bicycle beside him.

She ran past the man, then a few minutes later the same man inappropriately touched her. He then rode off.

The latest incident followed a number of other reports of sexual assaults by a man on a bike, including along the west bank of the River Severn, between the main bridge and the Diglis Weir on Thursday, July 7 when a woman was passed by a man on a bike heading in the opposite direction.

He doubled back towards her and grabbed her backside before cycling off.

A cyclist also touched a woman inappropriately and tried to pull her towards him on Bath Road on Sunday, July 2 between 1am and 1.45am.

A fourth woman was walking along Hallow Road, Worcester, at 8.25pm on Tuesday, May 9, when a cyclist rode past her as she was walking to work.

The woman moved out of the man way, but he came up behind her and hit her bottom before riding away.

The woman, in her 40s, said police promised to check CCTV, but West Mercia Police say the victim didn’t want the matter taken any further.

West Mercia Police are open to the idea that they could be linked but there is no clear evidence to suggest that they are.
