YOUTH musical theatre group WODYS will be singing to sensational Andrew Lloyd Webber music and acting to the best of their ability next week as they raise money for a charity that provides short breaks for children with special needs and learning difficulties.
WODYS - Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section - has chosen Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Club in Worcester as its charity for 2017.
Proceeds from interval raffles at its performances of Whistle Down The Wind - on at Worcester's Swan Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday, August 1 to 5 - will be going towards the cause.
Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Club, Droitwich Road, Worcester, offers holiday breaks and weekly youth club sessions for young people aged 10 to 24 with disabilities, complex health needs and challenging behaviour.
Some of the WODYS cast of Whistle Down The Wind recently paid a visit to one of the Perdiswell youth club sessions.
Phil Weston, development manager at Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Club, said: "The proceeds raised will enable young people aged 12 to 19 with disabilities, complex health needs and changing behaviour to access summer holiday and out-of-school activities."
David Humphries, WODYS chairman and producer of Whistle Down The Wind, said: “I feel that our group is very fortunate in being able to perform a musical each year at the Swan Theatre. We are very pleased to provide an opportunity for the public to help the youngsters from Perdiswell and so give them the chance of out-of-school and summer holiday activities."
