A TEENAGER has been jailed for witness intimidation after recently being cleared of rape in a Malvern sexual abuse case.

Brandon Young, aged 19 of Douglas Road, Handsworth, was found not guilty by a jury of rape of a girl over the age of 16 during at a trial at Stafford Crown Court last month.

However, he afterwards made contact with a witness in the case, sending threatening text messages.

Young was jailed on Tuesday for 14 months for witness intimidation during at a hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

We had previously reported how Young was put on trial alongside Neil James Bozward, aged 45 of Duke of Edinburgh Way, Malvern.

Bozward was found guilty of inciting child prostitution, aiding and abetting rape, and two counts of supplying class A drugs last month.

He was sentenced to 23 years in prison.

The sentence included seven years for inciting child prostitution, 15 years each for three counts of aiding and abetting rape (to run concurrently) and a year for two counts of drugs conspiracy for supplying heroin and crack cocaine (to run concurrently).

Hayley Louise Rowberry, aged 36 from Willes Road, Handsworth, previously from Malvern, was found guilty of controlling prostitution for gain and sentenced to five years in prison.

Brandon Young and Elliot Whittock were both charged with rape of a female over the age of 16 and were both found not guilty at the trial.
