PLANS have been submitted for a KFC restaurant to open.

The fast-food chain is planning a drive-thru restaurant which is 'considerably smaller' than a proposal that was rejected in 2015 for up to 2,250 square metres of retail space.

The 305 square metre building would be just north of the Twyford Service Station would include 42 parking spaces if it is built and would sit next to Costa Coffee which is yet to be built but has been approved by Wychavon District Council.

The restaurant would be the first KFC to be built in Evesham and plans were unveiled on Friday, July 21.

Comments on the plans will be accepted by planners until Thursday August 24 as part of a consultation period which allows residents to make their opinions known about the proposed restaurant before the council make a decision on the application.

A KFC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a developer has made a planning application for a KFC, and depending on the outcome, we hope to have some good news in the future.

"In the meantime, local KFC fans can check out our website: www.kfc.co.uk/find-us to find their closest restaurant.”

The fast food chain would be accessed by a new junction from the road used to get to the Premier Inn and Orchard Pub.
