A RESIDENT who launched a 'one man protest' against a supermarket has received messages of support from our readers.

Andy Falconer, 61, of Barbel Crescent, Worcester, used his car to trap a lorry in the Aldi delivery yard.

He said he was driven to 'breaking point' by the noise and light coming from the store, in Bath Road, Worcester.

Mr Falconer parked his car in front of the lorry, which breached delivery hours, at about 7.30am on Sunday, July 30.

Aldi has since given refresher training sessions to drivers on the correct hours to deliver to the store and issued additional written guidelines.

Bev Boother, of Worcester, wrote on Facebook: "Just shows that he's been driven to take this kind of action.

"I feel really sorry for him. The problem wasn't there when he bought the house.

"He did all the right things to protest the changes and now they aren't even complying to their regulations. I can't blame him to be honest.

"What else do you do when nobody is prepared to listen to you?

"It's very different to buying a property that already had noise issues and you accepted that situation. This has been forced upon him."

But Lynda Pearce wrote: "Whilst I feel for this man's plight I also feel for the lorry driver.

"The issue is with the store itself, they need to address it."

Developers moved the building's delivery yard to the other side of the building - next to Mr Falconer's garden - after receiving planning permission in 2015.

A spokesman for Aldi said: “We are currently working with the developer and landlord of the site to resolve the issues around acoustic fencing that Mr Falconer has raised.

“We have reminded our delivery drivers of the time restrictions in place for delivery to the store.”
