A FAKE detective rang a resident and asked them to send money to an address.

The fraudster told the victim that they had arrested a person and that the resident's credit cards had been stolen.

The caller then asked the elderly victim, from Pershore, Worcestershire, to withdraw money and send it to London.

The incident happened on Thursday, August 3, and police have issued a warning to other potential victims.

A spokesman said: "Police would never call and ask you to withdraw money, if you get this type of call clear the line immediately.

"Ensure the line is cleared before making any further calls, if in doubt use another phone."
