A VETERANS' breakfast club is branching out to organise a social evening for former soldiers and their families.

The social evening is to take place at Barbourne Ex-servicemen's Club at The Moors in Worcester on Friday, August 25 at 6.45pm.

The social evening arose from the Veterans Breakfast Club ("Brekkie Club"), which meets at the Postal Order in Foregate Street, Worcester as organisers link up with the Worcester city Royal British Legion and the old Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment (the 'Woofers'), now part of the Mercian Regiment.

Dave Carney, organiser of the veteran's breakfast club, said: "I decided to name it Veterans in Partnership.

"We've booked a local band to entertain us, pork rolls for a bite to eat and a raffle.

"It'll give veterans from all of the groups the chance to interact, as well as inviting and involving their families too."

The cost is £2.50 entry on the door or free for under 16s free.

All profit will be split between Worcester City RBL and the Woofers.

The mayor of Worcester is expected to attend.

Members of the public are also welcome.
