A UNIQUE taster opportunity to see a selection of artwork ahead of its debut at a bank holiday weekend event is being held in Worcester.

Until Sunday, August 20 visitors to The Hive can feast their eyes on a slice of the wonderful artwork created by some of the county’s talented artists.

The wall in the cafe area and the adjacent cabinets are filled with an eye-catching sample of work created by artists who are taking part in this year’s Worcestershire Open Studios.

The display features a variety of media including painting, printmaking, textiles, jewellery and ceramics. They include still life paintings and atmospheric landscapes, functional pots and intriguing sculpture.

Artist and Worcestershire Open Studios co-organiser Sally Morgan said: "This exhibition is the perfect introduction to the fantastic range of creativity that will be on offer at this year’s Worcestershire Open Studios over the August bank holiday weekend.

"So many artists are opening their studios, homes and shared spaces this year that we wanted an opportunity to showcase a sample of their work in the lead up to the main event."

The Hive is open every day from 8.30am to 10pm.

The artwork will then be featured in studios, homes and shared spaces at 70 different locations across the county over the bank holiday weekend (Saturday, August 26 to Monday, August 28).

Now in its third year, Worcestershire Open Studios will showcase a diverse collection of original arts and crafts made by over 200 Worcestershire artists – from drawing, painting, printmaking and photography to ceramics, jewellery, textiles and mixed media.

Worcestershire Open Studios offers visitors a unique opportunity to peek inside normally unseen spaces and chat to artists about their creative processes and inspiration.

Participants are located across the county.

To extend the experience and help visitors get stuck in, some of artists are offering demonstrations and have a go sessions too.

Details of all participating artists and galleries can be found at worcestershireopenstudios.org.uk.

Guides are available from The Hive, libraries, Tourist Information Centres and other locations across the county.

Entry to all venues is free.
