BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester presenter Nina Das Gupta will be

performing the opening ceremony at Salwarpe Fete this year, as it

celebrates 25 years of successful fundraising.

Listeners attending the fete will be able to put a face to the name of the

popular early morning show host, as she begins the party-themed proceedings

at 2pm on Saturday, August 19.

The 3 hour fete is again being held by kind permission of Mr and Mrs

Michael Davies at Churchfields Farm, Copcut Lane (home of the luxury

Churchfields ice-cream). With a vast amount to see and do for the whole

family, the event is suitable for all ages.

The silver anniversary cake will be awarded to whoever correctly guesses

the weight of it, and the bucking bronco is back for a second year by

popular demand. Home made tea from the Salwarpe WI will be available for

sampling in the village hall, with a barbecue, a cider tent and ice-cream

also on offer.

There will be a children’s dancing and gymnastics demonstration, with

children in the audience invited to join in after the display, a dog show

with six classes leading to best in show, pony rides, a coconut shy, and

several other sideshows. Classic cars will again be on display and there

will be delightful music for visitors to enjoy, courtesy of Worcester

Ukelele Band.

Expected to be as busy as usual, the highly anticipated bric-a-brac marquee

will display an assortment of everything from DVDs to crockery and curtains

to toys for bargain hunters to sift through.

Parking for the fete is free, and entry is £2 for adults. Children under 16

years of age are entitled to free access, and all proceeds go to help

maintain the historic churches at Salwarpe and Martin Hussingtree.
