The Worcester News Jobs and Careers Fair in association with Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust will take place in the Guildhall, Worcester, on Thursday, September 14.

Whether you are looking to embark on a nursing career within the NHS, return to the profession or looking for opportunities in a new organisation, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has a range of exciting nursing opportunities available across the Alexandra, Kidderminster and Worcestershire Royal Hospitals.

Clare Davies from Wordsley, West Midlands, joined Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in 2005 as a newly qualified nurse on the Urology Ward at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.

“I’ve been helped to progress with my career by the trust throughout my time in Worcestershire,” explained Clare.

“I started as a newly qualified nurse at the Alex in 2005, four-and-a-half years later I moved on to the intensive care unit at Worcestershire Royal.”

“While working in Intensive Care, I was offered the chance to take a specialist ITU course funded by the trust. This gave me the skills I needed to progress my career further.

“When my matron mentioned a junior sister development programme I jumped at the chance and undertook a six-month secondment in the critical care outreach team.

“The programme gave me the on-the-job skills and experience I needed to grow further and earlier this year I was given the position of junior sister in the critical care outreach team on a permanent basis.

“I’ve been very fortunate with the opportunities this trust has given to me.

“I really would recommend taking the opportunities on offer

to consolidate your learning

and gain extra skills on the ward.”
